Alexian Brothers Women & Childrens' Hospital
Michael S. DeLarco Playroom

Every month the Michael S. DeLarco Foundation provides books, games, and other items for the MSD Playroom and a Teen Room.  The foundation provides pre-packaged crafts ( assembled by the foundation ), coloring books, journals, special occasion gifts and various other supplies for the children to have access to while they are patients in the hospital. In addition, members of the foundation visit the hospital to decorate the MSD Playroom and the Teen Room for each season.  All of this would not be possible without the generosity of our loyal supporters whom are appreciated so deeply. The Michael S. DeLarco foundation is thrilled to be partners with the Alexian Brothers Foundation and look forward to more opportunities within the hospital for the good of the children. Read an article about their efforts by clicking here. You can take a virtual tour of the Michael S. DeLarco Playroom by clicking here.

Luca Corso, a senior at St. Edward Central Catholic High School and an alumni of St. Hubert School recently was working on his Eagle Scout Rank. To receive an Eagle Scout Rank, scouts are required to complete a service project. Luca chose to make dry erase lap boards for the children who are patients at St. Alexis Women and Children's Hospital. Luca invested countless hours from the beginning plans to the completed project. He presented 15 lap boards to Katie and Mary Kate from the Child Life Services team in November. Luca is the son of proud parents Vito and Maria Corso.

Congratulations to Luca for setting a fine example to his peers and for his dedication to Pack 399 and Boy Scouts of America.

The Alexian Brothers Foundation Youth Board is comprised of teens and young adults in the community ranging in age from 12 to 22. Monthly meetings are held in the hospital and members are required 50% attendance in order to support the mission of volunteerism. Each meeting is well-organized and every member participates in the various activities and or events planned. Being a Youth Board member is a great way for our youth to give back to their community.

LInda and Faith are members of the Youth Board.

River Grove Train Station

We are proud that the safety improvements at the River Grove crossing have been completed. That includes: elimination of the original crosswalk, redirecting pedestrian traffic to a safer location and installation of 4 new pedestrian gates as well as redesigning the surrounding area near the crossing to improve safety. Your continued support in all of these efforts have made this project successful!

The Michael S. DeLarco Foundation along with the Village of River Grove work hand in hand and are great partners in safety.  Both continually research safety improvements that potentially could be put in to place at the River Grove Station.  At a recent meeting, the Foundation, Mayor May, Metra, several railways and various officials met to discuss new technology and other safety measures and plan to regroup again in early spring.  Safety at railways will always be a concern of the Michael S. DeLarco Foundation.
